How do I know if I am registered?
You will receive an e-mail confirming your acceptance into the race. Confirmation cards for Grandma's Marathon, the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon and the William A. Irvin 5K will be mailed 3 to 6 weeks after your registration is confirmed.
There is an error on my confirmation card. What should I do?
Please call the Grandma's Marathon office at (218) 727-0947 or email us at grandmas@grandmasmarathon.com prior to June 1, 2008 to report the error.
When and where do I pick-up my race packet?
Race packet pick-up for Grandma's Marathon and the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon is in Paulucci Hall at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center (DECC) on Thursday, June 18 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Friday, June 19 from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. There is no race packet pick-up on race morning.
Race packet pick-up for the William A. Irvin 5K is held at the tent near the William A. Irvin ore boat at the DECC on Friday, June 19 from Noon to 5:45 p.m.
I lost my confirmation card. What do I do?
Confirmation cards will only be mailed once. If you have lost your confirmation card, bring a photo ID with you to race packet pick-up and present it to a race official at the “Race Packet Problem” table in the race packet pick-up area (Paulucci Hall at the DECC). A new confirmation card will be issued to you, and you’ll be on your way!
I am not able to make it to Race Packet Pick-up. What are my options?
1. For a $25 per person fee ($30 USD for Canada) you can have your race packet delivered to you overnight within two weeks prior to the race. If you did not order this service on your entry form when you registered, mail a letter of request to Grandma's Marathon with your address and a check for $25.00 no later than April 1, 2009. Requests received after April 1 will not be accepted – NO EXCEPTIONS.
2. You may have another person (family member or friend) pick up your race packet for you. The person picking up your race packet will need all three of the following:
- A letter of authorization from you (example: I, Jane Doe, authorize John Smith to pick up my race packet)
- Your confirmation card
- His or her photo ID.
He or she will need to present these materials to a race official at the “Race Packet Problem” table in the race packet pick-up area (Paulucci Hall at the DECC) and will be required to complete a release form before your race packet is given to them.
I am injured, pregnant, or no longer able to attend the race, can I get a refund?
Entry fees are non-refundable. The only exception that will be made to our “no refund policy” is for those who are on active military duty and are deployed for service (a copy of deployment orders is required).
Can I defer my entry to next year?
No. Entry deferments are not permitted under any circumstances.
Can I give/sell my number to another person?
No. Entries and race numbers are non-transferable from one person to another. Any person caught trying to sell his/her race number, allowing another person to wear his/her race number and/or running with somebody else’s race number may be banned from participating in future Grandma's Marathon events.
I was not officially accepted into the race. Can I run the marathon/half marathon/5K anyway?
No. Only officially registered participants, volunteers and race officials are allowed on the Grandma's Marathon, Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon and William A. Irvin 5K race courses. If you do not have an official race number, volunteer T-shirt or race official credential you will be asked to leave the course.
Can I switch from the marathon to the half marathon?
No. Switching between races is not allowed.
Can I drive to the starting line and leave my car there?
No. There is no parking at the starting lines of Grandma's Marathon or the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon. The only way to ensure you get to the starting line in time for the official start of your race is to ride an official starting line shuttle bus. Buses to the starting line are for race participants only. You must have your race number visible to board the bus.
