Caribou Coffee: Life is short. Stay awake for it.

There’s a lot going on with Caribou Coffee these days. The nation’s second largest gourmet coffeehouse chain continues to roll out beverages and food items with better-for-you options that satisfy any active lifestyle.

Caribou recently introduced an expanded line of beverages with 40 percent fewer calories—and 100 percent of the taste. The new Northern Lite beverages include lattes, tea lattes, blended drinks and Caribou’s first-ever lite mocha, made with real, premium milk, dark or white chocolate and non-fat whip.

In addition to Northern Lite beverages, at any Caribou Coffee location guests will find an array of food perfect for a light breakfast or snack, including handcrafted Caribou Coffee Daybreaker breakfast sandwiches. The hot sandwiches, served fresh from the oven, are all 310 calories or less.

Caribou is not only making strides with its product offerings, but with its business practices. Caribou Coffee has a strong partnership with the Rainforest Alliance, the most comprehensive sustainability certification in the industry. This certification ensures that the coffee farmers Caribou works with are following sound agricultural practices that protect forests, rivers, soils and wildlife, and that workers have decent wages, dignified working and living conditions, and access to education and health care. In 2007, Caribou Coffee was a recipient of the Rainforest Alliance Corporate Green Global Award, and it is the first major U.S. coffeehouse retailer committing to 100 percent Rainforest Alliance certification for all of its coffees, a goal it’s on track to achieve by the end of 2011.

Caribou is also rewarding guests who share the same passion for the environment. As part of Caribou’s Happy Everyday sustainability program, guests can receive 50 cents off any drink when using reusable drinkware.

“Caribou Coffee wants to reward those who are doing small things that add up to making a big difference,” said Alfredo Martel, senior vice president of marketing and product management for Caribou Coffee. “We know our customers share our belief that what’s good for us is good for the earth.

Making every day happy through sustainable savings is our way of showing them that we’re all in this together—and that we appreciate them helping us make a difference.”

Caribou Coffee is proud to bring their passion for great coffee and excellent service to Grandma's Marathon. “Playing a role in the success of the communities where we are located is an integral part of our company, and we especially love to be involved with events and people that strive to push themselves to the limit,” said Martel.
