Replenish at the Finish Line with Upper Lakes Foods!

Thousands of Grandma's Marathon and Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon finishers have Upper Lakes Foods to thank for providing them with replenishing food at the finish line. From bananas to yogurt and much more in between, the finish area is stocked with food to provide post-race refreshments for each runner.

For the past 15 years, Upper Lakes Foods, one of the nation’s largest full-line, full service distributor and the largest full-line distributor in Minnesota, has been at the finish line of Grandma's Marathon. Each year, more than 50 employees and their families volunteer their time handing out assorted fruit, cookies and orange juice to racers.

“Our day at the marathon is a rite of summer.” says Scott Soderberg, a spokesperson for Upper Lakes Foods. “The set up at 6:00 am, the coffee run, the ‘store building’ and the great comments from the racers make it a satisfying experience all around.” “Since we began our association, many employees, family members and friends have participated in the races and that also makes it special, to be there when they’ve finished.”

The family owned business that started in 1967 now has over 375 employees and distributes over 14,000 line items to over 4,300 customers. Upper Lake Foods has been committed to delivering high quality products on time and at a fair price for 45 years and they make it their primary goal to help their customers be successful. In addition to helping with events like Grandma's Marathon, Upper Lakes Foods serves a wide range of independent and chain restaurants, colleges, schools and health care facilities.

“Upper Lakes Foods provides a great service to our runners each year and we are honored to have them on our sponsorship team,” explains Scott Keenan, executive director of Grandma's Marathon. “Their efforts in the post-race replenishment area play an important role with helping our runners recover as quickly as possible.”
