Recognized as The Most Beautiful Urban Marathon in America®, the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon is an iconic fall event for the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. The race, which began in 1982 with the merger of the City of Lakes and St. Paul Marathons, starts in downtown Minneapolis and winds by lakes, along parkways, and past the Mississippi River before finishing at the grounds of the State Capitol in St. Paul. Typically run under a canopy a trees in their fall splendor, the rolling course is well known for its enthusiastic spectators.
The final event in the UMEC Challenge. Registration opens June 3, 2013.
The American Birkebeiner is North America's largest and most prestigious cross-country skiing event drawing 13,000 skiers from nearly every State and 22 Countries to the three days of events, February 20-22, 2014. The 50K Birkie Skate Race and 54K Birkie Classic Race traverse the beautiful, wooded, world famous, and very challenging Birkie and Birkie Classic ski trails. The Birkie races start near Cable, Wisc. and skiers enjoy an exciting finish in downtown Hayward on Main Street. The Birkie is capped at 10,000 skiers and closes out in mid-fall, so the decision was made to make this the finale in the triad of events.
