Grandma’s Marathon was named by BibRave to The BibRave 100 : A Definitive List of the Best Races in America and identified as one of the top five best marathons in the country in the runner-nominated categories: Exceptional Race Management, and Beautiful On-Course Scenery.
The Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon was ranked as a top 20 Half Marathons in the country.
The 2018 Best Races in America awards are determined through runner nominations, running industry surveys, and runner votes.
Top marathon in Minnesota Award
Grandma’s Marathon was named by RaceRaves in its “Best Marathons in the U.S.” poll.
The winning themes included exceptional production and on-course support, strong community involvement, and a scenic marathon course that showcases the beauty and attractions of the local region.
Winners are selected based on votes from thousands of runners across the country, along with online reviews and ratings.
Abbott World Marathon Majors Wanda Age Group Qualifiers
Grandma’s Marathon qualified as a race in the Abbott World Marathon Majors Wanda Age Group Qualifier series. The AbbottWMM Wanda Age Group World Rankings comprise a one-year qualifying period during which athletes in nine separate age groups can compete in over 50 marathons across the world to earn ranking points. At the end of the qualifying period, the top ranked runners in each age group will be invited to the AbbottWMM Wanda Age Group World Championships.

2018 Minnesota Signature Event Award
Grandma’s Marathon was recognized by Explore Minnesota Tourism for their contributions to the state’s $15 billion travel industry.
Explore MN highlighted Minnesota-based, world-class events that bring strong coalitions together, produce substantial media exposure and generate significant travel dollars to and for the State of Minnesota.
At the 2018 Grandma’s Marathon, there were 32 marathoners that qualified for the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials according to the USATF Qualifying Standards.
