When the race is over, the party’s on for Grandma’s Marathon!
Our post-race celebration moved in 2021 from near the finish line in Canal Park to Bayfront Festival Park. This classic Duluth venue is built for the very thing we want to do – bring our community together in celebration – and also offered extra space to help keep everyone as distanced and as comfortable as possible.
Instead of our usual headliner, we invited local bands and musicians to the Grandma’s Marathon stage in 2021. Five different groups played throughout the weekend, including after the 5K race on Friday night and all day on Saturday during and after the full and half marathons.
Through discussion with our Board of Directors and other community leaders, our staff will decide whether this change is permanent or if we will revert back to a form of the “Rock the Big Top” entertainment that was so popular for many years closer to the finish line area.
If you attended our 2021 event and have input on where the post-race party should be held in the future, please let us know by emailing our office at firstname.lastname@example.org. We value your opinion and will do our very best to make the post-race celebration something that all participants, volunteers, and spectators can be part of and proud of moving forward.
Sounds Unlimited provided the DJs and music between live acts during our 2021 celebration, and Sound Central provided the audio equipment for setup.
Beverages were provided in 2021 by Superior Beverages and Coca-Cola, and the food was provided by Famous Dave’s.
Advantage Embroidery & Screen Printing was also on site selling Grandma’s Marathon merchandise, and Nature’s Gem CBD Health & Wellness had a tent providing massages and other services to our participants.
We thank all of our sponsors, including those listed below, for their support of Grandma’s Marathon and their involvement with our post-race celebration. It truly wouldn’t be a great party without all of their help!
