Entertainment

The party’s on for the 45th annual Grandma’s Marathon weekend, and we have a NEW location for our entertainment this year!

Date: Saturday, June 19, 2021
Time: 8:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m.
Location: Bayfront Festival Park
Admission: FREE (all ages)

Our celebration this year moves from near the finish line in Canal Park to Bayfront Festival Park. This classic Duluth venue is built for the very thing we want to do – bring our community together in celebration – and also offers extra space to help keep everyone as distanced and as comfortable as possible.

Grandma’s Marathon and Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon participants can redeem their free drink tickets all day on Saturday at Bayfront Festival Park, where there will also be live music starting at 9:00 a.m.

  • 9:00 a.m-12:00 p.m. – Rock-a-Billy Revue
  • 12:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m. – Boxcar
  • 3:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. – Big Wave Dave & The Ripples
  • 5:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m. – Whiskey Trail
  • 7:30 p.m.-9:00 p.m. – Big Wave Dave & The Ripples

Sounds Unlimited will be providing music between live acts all day on Saturday. Beverages will be provided by Superior Beverages and Coca-Cola, and food will be provided by Famous Dave’s.

Advantage Embroidery & Screen Printing will also be on site selling Grandma’s Marathon merchandise.

All patrons are strongly encouraged to wear a mask or face covering and to maintain appropriate social distance throughout this event. All volunteers are also strongly encouraged to wear a mask or face covering while distributing food and/or fluids or while interacting closely with the public.

NOTE: Grandma’s Marathon is a large event that includes people from all over the country, from all walks of life, and potentially with varying levels of comfort. Please use caution and be respectful of others so that our event can be enjoyed by all while keeping all attendees as safe and as comfortable as possible. We appreciate your cooperation.

We will also be hosting a Friday night celebration following the 27th annual William A. Irvin 5K at Bayfront Festival Park.

Date: Friday, June 18, 2021
Time: 6:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.
Location: Bayfront Festival Park

The 5K race starts at 6:00 p.m. on Friday evening. Boxcar will play live music from 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m., and Sounds Unlimited will provide music for the rest of the night.

All patrons are strongly encouraged to wear a mask or face covering and to maintain appropriate social distance throughout this event. All volunteers are also strongly encouraged to wear a mask or face covering while distributing food and/or fluids or while interacting closely with the public.

The traditional “Rock the Big Top” celebration near the finish line in Canal Park has been canceled and moved to Bayfront Festival Park for the 2021 race weekend.
