Expo & Packet Pickup

Essentia Health Fitness Expo

The Essentia Health Fitness Expo is one of the largest in the nation, bringing more than 100 vendors to Duluth on race week to showcase the latest products, services, and innovation in the running and athletic industries.

Our expo is free and open the public, so our thousands of participants are joined by their family and friends as well as our community to take part in this annual pre-race event.

The Essentia Health Fitness Expo is hosted by one of our longtime partners, the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center (DECC), which is just a short walk from Canal Park and the finish line area of the full and half marathons.

Admission: FREE
Location: Duluth Entertainment & Convention Center (DECC) Arena & Pioneer Hall

Race Packet Pickup

All participants in Grandma’s Marathon weekend will have the choice at time of registration to pick up their race packet in person or have it mailed to them prior to race weekend.

If you choose to pick up your race packet in person, you can do so on Thursday or Friday of race week at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center (DECC).

NOTE: If you are participating in the William A. Irvin 5K, you must pick up your packet by 5:30pm on Friday afternoon.

Location: Duluth Entertainment & Convention Center (DECC) Arena & Paulucci Hall
350 Harbor Drive, Duluth, MN, 55802

If you are not able to pick your packet up in person, you have the following options:

  • You may have someone else pick up your packet. To do this, complete the authorization (found at the bottom of your official bib number email coming in June), and have someone else bring the printed, authorized confirmation to race packet pickup.
  • For a $25.00 fee (within the United States), you can have your packet mailed to you a week prior to the race.
    • If you do not select this option when registering, please call us at (218) 727-0947 with a credit card number or mail a check to us at the following address. Please include the address to which you would like your race packet sent.

IMPORTANT: There is absolutely no race packet pickup on race morning. All runners must show a photo ID to pick up their race packet.

Finisher Shirts

As part of the COVID-19 modifications for our 2021 event, the finisher shirts for Grandma’s Marathon and the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon were distributed to our participants during packet pickup prior to the race(s).

This was a change for one-year only, and finisher shirts will again be distributed to participants in the finish line are following their race starting in 2022.

Gear Bags

Also as part of the COVID-19 modifications for our 2021 event, participants were not allowed to bring a gear bag to the start line for either Grandma’s Marathon or the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon.

Instead, participants were encouraged to drop their gear bag on Thursday or Friday of race week in order to have them available in the finish line area following their race.

We expect this change to be for 2021 only, as well, but our staff will make a final decision on this area of the 2022 race weekend at a later date.
