The KP Challenge is a three-race series of fun and local events throughout the spring and summer, designed to help participants train regularly and increase their endurance.

Starting with a shorter distance and increasing from there, the KP Challenge is perfect for runners of all skill levels and experience.

The Challenge is named in honor of Kevin Peterson, a dear friend of Grandma’s Marathon who lost his battle to pancreatic cancer in 2013. Kevin was a member of the marathon’s founding organization, the North Shore Striders, and his involvement continued throughout his life as a volunteer and Board member.

Anyone who signs up for and COMPLETES the 2022 KP Challenge (ages 12 and up, limit 300) will receive a guaranteed entry into the 2023 Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon!

Those who qualify will be required to purchase their entry but will avoid the rush when registration for the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon opens on October 1.

The Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon will take place on June 17, 2023.

Net proceeds from the event go to benefit the Young Athletes Foundation (YAF), which was created in 1990 to assist with the promotion and development of healthy and active lifestyles for youth throughout Carlton, Cook, Douglas, Lake, and St. Louis Counties. Since its inception, the YAF has donated more than $1 million to the community’s youth athletic and recreational organizations.
