What are the Pace Team goal times for Grandma’s Marathon & the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon?
Grandma’s Marathon times: (in hours):
3:00, 3:10, 3:20, 3:30, 3:40, 3:50, 4:00, 4:05, 4:20, 4:35, 4:50, 5:00, 5:30, 6:00
Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon times (in hours):
1:30, 1:40, 1:50, 2:00, 2:10, 2:20, 2:30 and 2:45.
Note: the Pace Team goal times have been updated for 2019.
Is there a fee to run with the Pace Team?
No, running with a pace leader and the Pace Team is free and easy, and you do not need to sign-up in advance of race day.
Where will my pace leader be at the start line?
Each pace leader will be holding a sign that indicates the goal pace and finish time they are pacing. Large signs in the start corrals will have estimated finish times and the pace leaders will be in those areas.
If I join a pace group, do I have to stay with them for the whole race?
No, you don’t. However, if you feel great at the start of the race, that’s normal and you want to be careful not to run the first half of your race too fast. If you’re not having a great day then slow down, take some walking breaks and work your way to the finish line. If you’re trying to hit a PR, the best advice is to stay with your pace leader for the whole race.
Will each group have the same pace leader for the entire race?
Yes. Each pace group will have one leader. He or she will run the entire 26.2 or 13.1 miles. Throughout the race, the experienced pace leaders will run even splits and provide advice and encouragement to help you cross the finish line within two minutes of your goal finishing time.
