Finish Line

The finish line is the place every runner wants to be on race day, and the same can be said for thousands of spectators as well.

The finish line for Grandma’s Marathon and the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon is located in the heart of Duluth’s Canal Park, just steps away from the original Grandma’s Restaurant and the iconic Aerial Lift Bridge.

When you cross that finish line, it will change your life forever. No matter how fast or how slow you run it, it will change your life forever. That’s what is so special about the marathon, and especially Grandma’s Marathon.

Dick Beardsley

Grandma's Marathon Champion (1981, 1982)

The finish line is a wonderful spot for fans to gather and celebrate their favorite runner on race day. Because of its popularity and location, sightlines and parking are limited at the finish line area. IMPORTANT: If you are planning to watch the race here, please plan on arriving early on race morning and allowing yourself extra time for travel.

Not only is Canal Park loud and boisterous on race monring, it’s also just approximately a 1/2-mile walk from Bayfront Festival Park and more race weekend activities.

Fitger's 5K History

The Fitger’s 5K began in 1990 and over more than three decades has now become Duluth’s premier spring running event.

Below are the all-time Fitger’s 5K race records and winners from each year. NOTE: Some early records are incomplete and our staff is working to retrieve those dating back to 1990.
