AMERICAN FOUNDATION FOR SUICIDE PREVENTION
The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is dedicated to saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide. The AFSP Minnesota Chapter serves all of Minnesota, bringing together people from all backgrounds who want to prevent suicide in their communities.
We are excited to welcome our 2025 Team AFSP runners to the 49th annual Grandma’s Marathon to raise funds for prevention programs, scientific research, public education, advocacy, and support for survivors of suicide loss.

IMPORTANT: To apply to become a charity runner for Grandma’s Marathon weekend, please contact your charity of choice directly to inquire about available entries, fundraising requirements, etc.
FUNDRAISING REQUIREMENTS
Charity runners commit to fundraising a minimum amount prior to race weekend, as outlined below:
- Grandma’s Marathon — $750
- Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon — $750
- William A. Irvin 5K — $350
The fundraising goal must be reached prior to the date agreed upon between the organization and participant. If the minimum fundraising amount is not met, the remaining balance will be charged to the participant or the entry may be inactivated.
PERKS
In addition to an entry to the Grandma’s Marathon weekend race of their choice, all charity runners will also receive:
- Custom AFSP race jersey
- Team AFSP dinner on Friday night before race
- Fundraising tips and training suggestions
