How to Celebrate your Grandma’s Marathon Finish

The race itself is a journey, but so is the after party. We think Garry Bjorklund said it best- “What else could you want in a marathon? Grandma’s Marathon starts in the middle of the woods, runs along the beautiful shores of Lake Superior, and finishes at a pub.” We’re known for being a place where the whole town comes out to celebrate your post marathon win and you can “party like a local”. Instead of stopping at 26.2 miles see what Duluth and the North Shore has to offer. Here are some things to keep in mind when you are planning your race weekend! Our 2022 Grambassadors share what they do post-run to celebrate.

Carrie Alajoki- Hanging out in Canal Park after the race is so rewarding. Watching other runners come in is exciting. A post race ritual is ice cream – lot’s of Duluth options.

Shannon Hogan- Limp over to get a celebratory beverage and then stumble down to the lake to take a celebratory dip.

Rachel Barger- Straight to the beer tent!! I look forward to the after party from the moment I cross the starting line!

Shawn Jarvis- Ran Grandma’s Twice, first time it was TOO COLD to dip into the water, but I made sure I did it my second time! Looking forward to doing it again this June!

Lora Osborn- A finish line beer is necessary at Grandmas! And of course, you need to get a finish line photo with the lighthouse in the background. It’s a must!

Olivia Kusch- Wings at Grandma’s!! I must say I’m not a super experienced Grandma’s Veteran, but some food from Grandma’s Saloon after the race was top notch.
